One of the decisions that comes with planning a funeral for you or a loved one is the music, this can be a classic hymn or perhaps you would prefer your favourite ballad as the curtain comes down for the final time.

Funerals and music are almost inextricably linked. For huge numbers of funerals – not in every faith tradition, but in many – music is typically sprinkled throughout the ceremonies in which we remember lives, and it serves many purposes.

However, unusual anthems such as The Prodigy and AC/DC have featured in a Top 10 choices of most modern funerals in some faiths/religions. An upbeat title ‘Celebration’ performed by 80’s chart toppers Kool & The Gang came out on top.

The Prodigy’s Firestarter made it to second place, while AC/DC’s Highway To Hell, came in at third. Other such entries included in the Top 10 list were the likes of Queen & Monty Python with their classic hits of Another One Bites The Dust and Always Look On The Bright Side of Life respectively.

There were also some eyebrows raised with some inclusions, children’s television theme tune from The Teletubbies and Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal theme were just a couple of examples of strange choices to be played at Funeral services up and down the country.
